    • The sermon is titled in the Beginning “Created for a Purpose” covering Genesis 2: 18-29. Three important lessons, first being we are created in God’s image. We are three whole parts: body, soul, and spirit. God created us as two genders, but neither is greater than the other. The first purpose of man was to love and glorify God. Be fruitful and multiply and raise them to love and honor God. God will supply all of your needs according to his will.

    • This sermon is titled “ A Portrait of Faith” It covers Gen 6:9-11: 32. God calls us to go out of our comfort zone to grow our character. Both old testament and new testament believers are saved through faith by the belief that the messiah, Yeshua, has already come. Previous covenants before the messiah were saved through personal faith in the promised messiah. Renewed covenants with the messiah saved through personal faith through the risen Messiah. SAved by grace through faith.

    • This sermon is titled “Noah Found Grace” It covers Gen 6:9-11: 32. It starts by talking about how God regretted making humankind and decided to wipe all living things from the earth. Grace is defined as unmerited undeserved kindness from God, it is transformative. Grace is conventional not casual, he gave grace to Noah as he was not living like the rest of the world.
  • Lech Lecha

20211016 Parashat Lech Lecha Tree of Life Houston Shabbat Service

    • This sermon is titled “Go Fourth” and it covers God telling Abraham to get up and go where God told him to go. One of the overarching points is when we fulfill the desire of God’s heart he will bless us. Next one is when we fulfill the desire of God’s heart we bless others.

20221105 Parashat Lech Lecha Tree of Life Houston Shabbat Service

    • This sermon is titled “Go Fourth” and it goes over the beginning of Abraham’s story and how he was called by God. Three words My heart's desire is repeated many times when it comes to the covenant that God makes with Abraham. A covenant relationship is very similar to a promise and it holds a lot of weight in regard to the scriptures. God made the Abrahamic covenant which turned into three other covenants: the Israel land covenant, Davidic covenant, and the new covenant.

20231024 Parashat Lech Lecha Tree of Life Houston Shabbat Service

    • This sermon is titled “God’s call and Detours Along the Way” it covers Genesis chapter 12-17. Abraham was the start of the progenitor of God’s chosen people by breaking away from the idols of the day. God has called people to service and repentance.  To get God’s full blessing you need to follow through fully to receive it.

20251101 Parashat Lech Lecha Tree Of Life Houston Messianic Congregation Shabbat Service

    • This sermon is titled “Becoming who God Sees” it covers Genesis chapters 12-17. God called Abraham to move from everything he knew to follow him to the land God promised him. We have to surrender our will, wants and vision sometimes to become what he sees in us. We need to become who God sees.
  • Vayera

20201107 Parashat Vayera Tree of Life Houston Shabbat Service

This sermon is titled “3 Tests of Faith” this portion covers Genesis Chapters 18-22. This portion shows God appearing to Abraham before destroying the cities of Sodom and Gamora. A faith that cannot be tested is a faith that cannot be trusted. Can you trust God with your possessions and your purpose when things don’t add up?

20221112 Parashat Vayera Tree of Life Houston Shabbat Service

    • This sermon is titled “Is ANYTHING to Difficult for ADONAI?” This portion covers Genesis Chapters 18-22: 24. Abraham was greatly challenged by God to trust him with his domestic responsibilities. There is nothing too difficult for Adonai to accomplish, whether it’s a promise, a prayer, or a problem.

20251108 Parashat Vayera Tree Of Life Houston Messianic Congregation Shabbat Service

    • This sermon is titled “Here I am, Covenant, Courage, and the Call to Serve” this portion covers Genesis Chapter 18-22. Henami which means “here I am” especially in response to God’s call, and it occurs three times in the parashat.
  • Chayei Sarah

20201114 Parashat Chayei Sarah Tree of Life Houston Shabbat Service

    • This sermon is about the life of Sarah, which oddly starts with how long she lived and her death. Eliazar was a righteous, loyal, and trustworthy servant to Abraham. Yeashua was the same, he was loyal to his task that he  was given. As believers the most important thing in our lives is being loyal to God, being righteous, and completing the mission God asked us to.

20231111 Parashat Chayei Sarah Tree of Life Houston Shabbat Service

    • This sermon is titled “What is your Legacy" it covers Genesis Chapters 23-25:18. This portion is filled with romance and sorrow and how Abraham mourned his wife, and how he found a wife for his son before he passed. Legacies are important because every single one of us wants to be remembered, people want to live a life that matters. Through Abramham God kept his promise of becoming a father of many nations leaving behind a massive legacy.

20251115 Parashat Chayei Sarah Tree Of Life Houston Messianic Congregation Shabbat Service

    • This sermon is titled “The Bride, the Son, and the Servant: A Covenant Love Story” and covers Genesis Chapter 23-25:18. It started with the father, Abraham, and his servant Eliazr who went out and scouted out a wife for Abraham’s son Issac. We become more in love with the Lord as our relationship with him goes on.
  • Toldot

20201121 Parashat Toldot Tree of Life Houston Shabbat Service

    • This sermon is titled "Sovereignty of God”. One of the main points is God does not always answer our prayers immediately. Rather we trust that God knows what’s best for us. This ties into the main story which is about Rebeca’s struggle with infertility and her journey to becoming a mother. One of the interesting things is God continued Abraham's blessing through the younger son Jacob, instead of the eldest Esau.

20231118 Parashat Toldot Tree of Life Houston Shabbat Service

    • This sermon is titled “What are Your Priorities?" It covers Genesis chapter 25:19-28:9 which is the section Toldot which means Generations. It tells us the story about the twins Jacob and Esau and their struggle for the birthright. God made a promise to Abrahamn and Issac, but unfortunately Esau lost favor with God through his own actions, so God decided Jacob was more fit for it. The exchange of the birthright was fair, and happened because Easu was dramatic due to his hunger for red lentil soup.

    • This sermon is titled “Re-Digging the Wells: Restoring the Ancient Paths" ; it covers Genesis chapter 24:19-28:9.  Wells of the Father: Legacy and Covenant. Wells are like Torah; they give us life and sustain us, and allows us to thrive in a hostile world. They are vital to our lives. Issac dug out all of the old wells that he knew were good wells, and renamed them with their original name.
  • Vayetze

20211113 Parashat Vayetze Tree of Life Houston Shabbat Service

    • This sermon is titled “Rock Bottom” it covers Genesis 28:10–32:3. This continues the story about Jacob’s double marriage and his journey back to Cannan. But this sermon takes a deeper look into Jacob's dream better known as “Jacob’s Ladder”. God’s promises may have conditions but they have no expiration dates. The ladder represents Yeashua, as no one comes through the father except through him. The tower represents that distance between God and his followers.

20221203 Parashat Vayetze Tree of Life Houston Shabbat Service

    • This sermon is titled “Despair to Dominion” it covers Genesis 28:10-32:3. It goes over Jacob’s dream about the stairway to heaven, and the promise that God made him in the dream. God always answers our prayers, sometimes it’s yes, sometimes it’s no, and sometimes it’s wait, but they are always answered. He is given a new name Israel, as he wrestled with God and man and won, and was then blessed.

20231125 Parashat Vayetze Tree of Life Houston Shabbat Service

    • This sermon is titled “What to do in Uncertain Times” it covers Genesis 28:10-32:3. This dives deeper into Jacob’s story after he leaves for Cannan and his dream known as "Jacob's Ladder”. Life goes through some really rough times, some self infected and some completely unexpected which can instill a strong sense of uncertainty. There are four things we need to remember in uncertain times: God’s promise, God’s presence, God’s protection, and God’s provision.  Which ties into Jacob’ story as he was going through some trying times to provide a sense of certainty.

20251129 Parashat Vayetze Tree Of Life Houston Messianic Congregation Shabbat Service

    • This sermon is titled “Thankfulness in the Journey” and covers Genesis 28:10-32:3. One of the overarching themes is, Gratitude is not only for what we receive but for how God shapes us in the journey. God uses imperfect people to accomplish God’s perfect will. Give thanks to the Lord, that the Lord is there with you through the mess. Jacob decided to trust and give thanks to God with his marriage and his reunion with his brother Easu.
  • Vayishlach

20211120 Parashat Vayishlach Tree of Life Houston Shabbat Service

    • This sermon covers parshat Vayishlach which means “And he Sent” . This continues the story of Jacob's uncertainty with meeting up with Esau. This sermon in particular focuses on Jacob's encounter with the being he wrestled with. Jacob was given a new name of Israel, this was to give him a new identity that served a new beacon to his soul. He came away from that encounter a changed man.

20231202 Parashat Vayishlach Tree of Life Houston Shabbat Service

    • This sermon is titled "Fervent Pray in Pursuit of Change” ; it covers Genesis chapters 32:3-36:43. Fervent prays can be short but they are not weak prayers. Jacob had not seen his brother Eaus for about twenty years, because Jacob had stolen Esau’s birthright. He goes to the River and before crossing the River he tries to appease his brother by sending gifts before he enters. Fervent prayers challenge the status quo, and we hold God to his word and to his promises. Fervent prayer changes the status quo.
  • Vayeshev

20201212 Parashat Vayeshev Tree of Life Houston Shabbat Service

    • This sermon covers parashat Vayeshev which means “And He Continued Living” it covers Genesis 37:1-11. It starts the story of Joseph which continues through the rest of the book Bereshit. Joseph was the first son of Rachel, this caused resentment to grow between him and his brothers. There should be a chance for someone to repent, instead of hating someone in your heart. Conversation can be a form of conflict resolution, people have to be in a position where they can talk.

20211127 Parashat Vayeshev Tree of Life Houston Shabbat Service

    • This sermon is titled “It was Winter”, it covers Genesis 37:1-8. This goes over the beginning of Joseph's story starting with how he was removed from the land of Canan and life in the land of Egypt. There is a small diversion to cover the celebration of Hunkuah. After recapturing their temple they had eight days of celebrations as their oil lasted longer than then one day supply. Returning to Joseph's story his brothers plotted to kill him by throwing him into a pit of lions. During his time in the pit he was experiencing winter. But in both scenarios God was there for them, and with them.

20221217 Parashat Veyashev Tree of Life Houston Service

    • This sermon is titled “Dare to Dream”, it covers Genesis 37:1-8. This dives deeper into Joseph’s dreams and his ability to decipher dreams. He was the favorite son of Jacob as he was the youngest son of his favorite wife Rachel. God is looking for more people like Joseph, people who dare to dream. Dreams can take us out of the ordinary hum drum of life. Dreams can be dangerous work, and not all dreams are meant to be shared. When God gives you a dream to have to have more than just a passing interest in order for it to succeed, and oftentimes it takes form.

20231209 Parashat Vayeshev Tree of Life Houston Shabbat Service

    • This sermon is titled “Fervent Faith: A Compass to Righteousness", it covers Genesis chapters 37-40. Jacob made no disguise that Joseph was his favorite son, which led to his brothers plotting his demise, however he ended up a slave in Egypt. Despite all this Joseph had faith that all of that was done by the grace of God, rather than holding on to an attitude of resentment. Perseverance is a by-product of fervent faith, the power for perseverance is a testament to the resilience of our faith.

20251213 Parashat Vayeshev Tree Of Life Houston Messianic Congregation Shabbat Service

    • This sermon is titled "Integrity in Adversity” it covers Genesis chapters 37:1-40:23. Joseph knew God and he remained faithful, and even when he was a slave in Egypt God continued blessing him. Joseph was asked to interpret some people's dreams and informed that it was not him, but rather God who did. Adversity and trials are not necessarily punishment or judgment, but rather a refiner fire that brings impurities to the surface. Our lives must be tested, each man must know what our spiritual, mental, and physical limits are.
  • Miketz

20201219 Parashat Miketz Tree of Life Houston Shabbat Service

    • This sermon is titled “Author of Our Lives” it covers Genesis chapters 37-44:17. We continue the story of Joseph, and his story falls into two categories: the intentional and the unintentional. Joseph attributed everything that happened to him to God, so much so that Potifer noticed and therefore delegated more to him and his God. The reading starts with two full years passed before he was able to leave prison, because God started giving Pharaoh dreams. God is the author of our lives, on one hand we are free, however God is intimately entwined in our life.

20221224 Parashat Miketz Tree of Life Houston Shabbat Service

    • This sermon covers the parashat Miketz which roughly translates to “From the End”, it covers Genesis chapters 37-44. It continues Joseph's story in Egypt starting with his release from prison because the Pharaoh needed his dream to be deciphered. It goes into the rise of power he had because of his ability to help prepare Egypt for a long famine that was coming. This borough upon a reunion between him and his brothers, however they did not recognize him. Instead of hate and revenge, Joseph chose to do the opposite.

20231216 Parashat Miketz Tree of Life Houston Shabbat Service

    • This sermon is titled "Fervent Study: The Path to Wisdom” it covers Genesis chapters 41-44:17. It happens at the end of two years of being imprisoned, in which Joseph is called to interpret a dream, which leads to him reuniting with his brothers. Joseph had no written code of conduct to direct his path, but he did have his grandfather Issac and his father Jacob. It was because of those relationships that he was able to build a strong faith with God. Fervent study shows obedience, it teaches us that God’s word is accurate, it teaches that God’s word is true in spiritual areas that we are incapable of testing with our senses, it replaces the false with the truth, and it equips us to serve.

202151220 Parashat Miketz Tree Of Life Houston Messianic Congregation Shabbat Service

    • This sermon is titled "Faithful Identity, Hidden Messiah” and covers Genesis chapters 41:1-44:17. This continues the story of Joseph and his time and impact in Egypt and how it led to him being reunited with his brothers. Part of the service addresses the history and current persecution of Jewish believers, one of the more notable being Antiochus. This ties into the sermon as it dives into the idea of assimilation, and having discretion when it is not part of God’s will for us. Assimilation is good when the new culture is superior to the old, the kingdom of God is the one only one that is truly worthy of it.
  • Vayigash

20201226 Parashat Vayigash Tree of Life Houston Shabbat Service

    • This sermon is titled “The Birth of Forgiveness" it covers Genesis 44:18-47:27. This started with Joseph asking God how many times must I forgive my brothers. Joseph wept when he discovered that his brothers did not understand that he had forgiven them years ago. This is because forgiveness was not common in the literature of the ancient Greeks. It was more common that there was appeasement of anger versus actual forgiveness. Forgiveness is the better choice to make, because when we hold onto the bitterness it does more harm than good. Forgiveness allows us to be renewed, and allows us to move on from our past more easily.

20211211 Parashat Vayigash Tree of Life Houston Shabbat Service

    • This sermon is titled “Just Passing Through” it covers Genesis 44:18-47:27. It starts with the dramatic unveiling of Joseph and reconciliation of him and his brothers, then it looks into Jacob’s journey moving his family to Egypt. The Egyptian people did not like sheppards, however Jacob told his sons to tell people that they are shepherds. It then dives into just how much Jacob moved around to get to Egypt and that despite the difficulties he described it as a journey. He held onto the promise that God made to him through his journey.

20221231 Parashat Vayigash Tree of Life Houston Shabbat Service

    • This sermon is titled “Just a Pilgrim” it covers Genesis chapters 47:7-12. It tells us the story of Jacob’s and his family’s migration to Egypt. We are told to seek God early in life, and to continue seeking him as we grow older. Jacob was a pilgrim and had intended to wander until he reached the land that God had promised him and his family. We can’t change our culture by electing certain people in office, the only thing that does is the good news of God as he provides salvation through grace. The world can do nothing about our souls' final destination only God can.

20231223 Parashat Vayigash Tree of Life Houston Shabbat Service

    • This sermon is titled “Fervent Love: A Path to Shalom” it covers Genesis chapters 44:18-47:27. This sermon dives deeper into Jacob’s journey to Egypt. It also touches on Joseph’s reaction to reuniting with the same brothers who tried to kill him. Joseph acted in grace and love rather than ditching or snitching on them to the Pharaoh. Yeshua loved us enough to die for us even before we looked towards him. The main point is fervent love and how it and how it breaks down the barriers of grudges and unforgiveness.

20251227 Parashat Vayigash Tree Of Life Houston Messianic Congregation Shabbat Service

    • This sermon is titled “Teshuva from Yehuda to Yeshua” ; it covers Genesis chapters 44:18-47:27. During the Babylonian exile the tribe Juda settled down in the Southern Kingdom and they became known as the Yehumdim. Juda passed the test that Joseph gave his brothers to see if they could change from their past. Some big landmarks on Judah’s Journey to Teshuva; Tamar married two people and both passed. Tamar fell pregnant out of wedlock, so Juda ordered that she be killed, however she collected evidence that he was the father of the child. Juda means he who acknowledged his sin, which ties into that story. The person who can repent from their past sins is in a better place than the person who does everything right.
  • Vayechi

20231230 Parashat Vayechi Tree of Life Houston Shabbat Service

    •  This sermon is titled “In the Beginning" it covers Genesis chapters 47:28-50:26. In this torah portion Jacob prepares for his death by preparing a double portion for his son Joseph, and a blessing for each of his sons. Each one of Jacob’s sons became a tribe in the nation of Israel, and each one received a blessing from Jacob. This sermon focuses on five in particular; first is Ruben the first born, his lack of self control made him double minded which led to the loss of his birthright. Next is Simeon, he was Jacob’s second born son, his anger was not godly righteous anger. The tribe of Levi chose to stand with Moses against the golden calf, which led to his tribe being chosen to be in service of God. Judah honored Tamar’s offspring and repented from his former mistakes which led to his family line having King David, and Yeshua. Benjamin, was the youngest and received his father’s blessing last, his blessing is not an easy one to unpack.

20260103 Parashat Vayechi - Forgiveness and the End of Grudges Tree of Life Houston Shabbat Service

    • This sermon is titled “Forgiveness and the End of Grudges” and covers Genesis chapters 27:28-50:26. This sermon looks at the subject of forgiveness by looking at the lives of Joseph, King David, and Yeshua. Fear exposes unresolved guilt, as seen with Joseph’s brothers. Joseph saw it as God preserving his family line. Forgiveness can break down generational cycles. Joseph refused to continue the family record of sibling rivalry. David however let old wounds fester. Yeshua took the mosaic convent and clarified it by giving us the spirit and intent of the law, rather than the letter of the law.

Shemot

  • Shemot

20210109 Parashat Shemot Tree of Life Houston Shabbat Service

    • This sermon covers the parashat Shemot, it starts at the beginning of the Exodus of the Jewish people from their slavery in Egypt. It starts with Moses fleeing to Midian and his encounter with a burning bush, and he asked God a couple of questions. His second question being who are you? To which God responded “I am who I will be”. Another question is “Who am I” which indicates his own uncertainty about the tasks he was given. It can also be a question about identity. He started his new role at eighty years old, and he was doubtful that the Hebrew people would recognize them as one of their own. Another of his concerns was that he stuttered through his words because his Hebrew was poor.

20211225 Parashat Shemot Tree of Life Houston Shabbat Service

    • This sermon is titled “Birth of the Redeemer" it covers Exodus chapters 2:1-10. The name Exodus means exit, which starts the beginning of the story about the Jews exit from their slavery in Egypt. But, the sermon talks about the birth of Yeashua, the ultimate deliverer. The birth of Yeshua did not happen on December 25th, but people theorize that he was born in the spring. The first thing to look into is the year that Yeshua was born in. Starting with Herod the great the king at the time, which allows us to conclude Yeshua was born some time 6 BCE. The next date that is being looked at is the date of his crucifixion which is placed around the spring festivals.

20230114 Parashat Shemot Tree of Life Houston Shabbat Service

    • This sermon covers the parashat Shemot, it roughly translates to the english word “names”. God uses the phrase I am, he does not need any more explanation, however we need to fill in that third word. Dig deep and ask the hard questions that allow God to define you. The plan that God has for us tomorrow requires us to be better than who we are today. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever, the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end.

20240106 Parashat Shemot Tree of Life Houston Shabbat Service

    • This sermon is titled “The Burning Bush” it covers Exodus chapters 1:1-6:1. The Hebrew people were slaves in Egypt for about 100 years. Moses was schooled in all of the learning of the Egyptian people, but fled to Midian due to beating up an Egyptian. One thing we can learn from Moses' story is that God has a passion for us. God has a new possession for us. God has a new perspective for us. God doesn’t ever do the irrational thing, everything has its purpose it just may be beyond our understanding. God wants to partner with us. God calls us to participate in the deliverance of the lost, he often calls us into tasks that we cannot do by ourselves.

20260110 Parashat Shemot - God Had A Plan Tree of Life Houston Shabbat Service

    • This sermon is titled “God has a Plan” it covers Exodus chapters 1:1-6:1. Moses was called by God to lead the people of Israel out of Egypt, but Moses was doubtful. There were three classes of enslavement : chattel slaves which were often prisoners of war, bonded labor which were like indentured servants, the final one is forced labor. The Israelites fell into the forced labor category, but their tasks were harsher and it was a way to control their population. God had a plan long before Moses talked to the burning bush, as seen by how he was taken in by an Egyptian princess. God’s plan started at the very beginning in the Garden of Eden and continues on to be fulfilled through the birth and crucifixion of his son. God had a plan for our salvation and he has a plan for each one of us.
  • Va'era

20210116 Parashat Va'era Tree of Life Houston Shabbat Service

    • This sermon covers the parashat Va’era which is part of the story of the Israelites exodus from Egypt. As they were trying to convince Pharoah to let them leave, their labor kept increasing, which caused them to doubt Moses and Arrons’s leadership. Pharoah kept turning down Moses and Arrons’ requests so much so that Moses started to get frustrated with God. Leadership even by the highest order is often marked by failure. The sign of good leadership is continuing even when things are extremely difficult, despite the overwhelming urge to stop.

20220101 Parashat Va'era Tree of Life Houston Shabbat Service

    • This sermon is titled “7 Promises of Adoni” it covers Exodus chapters 6:2-9:35. These promises were made to the Israelite people, the first one is separation from Egyptian rule. The second one is freedom from bondage, the third is redemption from the slave holders of Egypt, the fourth is selection, he selected them as his chosen people, the fifth is admission into the promised land. The sixth is a clear title for their group for people and their land. The most important one is that he will give them a relationship with himself.

20230121 Parashat Va'era Tree of Life Houston Shabbat Service

    • This sermon is titled “Fighting for Opportunities" it covers Exodus chapters 6-9. What is the difference between an obstacle and an opportunity, your attitude, This ties into the scripture reading as it talks about Moes and his attitude towards the task God gave him. God is a covent making and covent keeping God. God instructed Moses to tell the Israelites that they are his chosen people and that we will deliver them from Epygt. God will do powerful things through people who are not powerful enough to do them themselves.

20240113 Parashat Va'era Tree of Life Houston Shabbat Service

    • This sermon is titled “El Shaddai-More Than Enough” it covers Exodus chapters 6:2-9:35. El Shaddai is translated as God Almighty, the God that is more than enough. There is a hunger in people's spirits that can only be satisfied by God, and he is more than enough. There was a trial between the prophets of Baal and the Israelite leaders. The prophets of Baal got no response from their god, meanwhile Elijah poured water on the firewood and the surrounding area, and God still brought upon a fire onto the wood. God executed many miracles that were otherwise impossible to do without God intervening.

20260117 Parashat Va'era - Gotta Serve Somebody Tree of Life Houston Shabbat Service

    • This sermon is titled “Gotta Serve Somebody” it covers Exodus chapters 6:2-9:25. This passage covers the four expressions of redemption and the first seven of the ten plagues that God released upon Egypt. The word worship in Hebrew is Abuda which is also the word for service or labor. Moses demands Pharaoh to let God’s people go so that they can worship God, rather than Pharaoh. Everybody serves somebody, the only question is who. The devil does not ask to be worshiped directly, rather he tries to distract us from what God has for us, falsely directed worship results in bongage. Through Yeashua we can be free from that so that we can worship the one true God. Salvation belongs to our God, the one who sits on the throne.
  • Bo

20210123 Parashat Bo Tree of Life Houston Shabbat Service

    • This sermon is over the parashat Bo, it covers Exodus chapters 6:2-9:25. The first reason God is showing everyone who he is to tell a story.  He goes on to talk about several U.S monuments and the stories behind them, and what they tell us about their political and moral culture. The Israelites are similar to the early Americans. Both parties wanted to leave a country that didn’t allow them to worship their God. This leads into the story of Passover and the story behind it. It is a continual story that is told to honor God, and a reminder of all that he has done for us.

20220108 Parashat Bo Tree of Life Houston Shabbat Service

    • This sermon is over that parashat Bo, which means come or go, it covers Exodus. It’s about the story of the Exodus and Moses asking Pharoah to let his people go. It concludes the story of the ten plagues and the last one being the slaying of the first born, and their exodus from Egypt. The story of passover has differing weight and meaning depending on the religion, or denomination. The lamb's blood on the door protected all those who put it on from having their first born killed. While the Egyptians were weeping the Israelites were gathering their items as they knew they were free. The Jews look at the passover lamb as a fact, the messianic Jews and Christians look at the lamb a bit differently. The passover lamb separated those who believed in Isaac and Jacob.

    • This sermon is titled “Darkness into Light” It covers Exodus chapters 10:21-29. This sermon looks into the plague that God sends upon Egypt following every time Phoarah refuses to let his people go. This sermon focuses on the plague of darkness that occurred after the plague of locusts. It was so dark that people could not leave their house for three days, which was an anomaly in Egypt. This particular plague defected their sun God Ra, which was also believed to be embodied by their Pharaoh. After this plague Pharaoh offered to let them leave but they had to leave their animals behind, and Moses said nope. The following plague was the death of the first born. It was during that plague that the spirit of God did his work, which scared the Egyptians and was the final straw that broke the pharaoh. The next important darkness came when Moses went on Mt. Sinai and brought back the Torah. The last important one is the darkness that came during the crucifixion.

    • This sermon is titled “The Lamb of God” it covers Exodus chapters 10:1-13:16. There is a tie between Passover and Easter. There are eight parallels between Passover and Easter, the first being that the lamb must be chosen. It must be tested to make sure it was perfect in every way. The lamb must be without blemish. It must be slain in twilight., and that is when Yueusha was crucified. The lamb’s body must be unbroken. The blood of the lamb must be applied. The chosen lamb must be applied. The blood of the lamb was the only protection from death and judgment.

20260124 Parashat Bo - Redeeming the First Born Tree of Life Houston Shabbat Service

    • This sermon is titled “Redeeming the First Born” it covers Exodus chapters 6:2-9:35. This was a long debate between Pharaoh and Moses about who has authority over the Isteralites. During the passover preparations that God required them to mark their doorways with blood, that they could work their way back up into a right relationship with him. Pharaoh tried to reason with Moses saying they can make their sacrifices there, but Moses rebuttals that their sacrifices would be considered an abomination to them. Each plague corresponded to one of their major Egyptian deities, and the Israelites feared God more than the Egyptians. Israel has always belonged to God, but that redemption of the first born proved it further.

    • This sermon is titled “When He Sent” it covers the events that happened after the exodus of the people of Israel from Egypt. One of the interesting things is that they left Egypt armed, and Moses knew that the more direct routes went through the land of the Philistines, who were known fighters. God guided them with a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night, which guided and provided protection and warmth. You have to trust that God has the best plan for us even when we don’t know how we're going to get there.

It goes over their first battle, and the provisions that God provided them as they wandered. God guided them away from the land of the Philistines as he knew that if they saw war they were more likely to flee back to Egypt. God decided to lead them towards the red sea instead. God provided them food on their journey, with mana and quail they had to gather everyday except for Friday they gather double portions. God provided them clean water by having Moses strike a rock with his staff and out came clean water.

20260131 Parashat Beshalach - Three Postures of Faith Tree of Life Houston Shabbat Service

    • This sermon is titled “Three Postures of Faith” it covers Exodus chapters 13:17-17:16. The three postures are, stand still, move forward and rise up. Faith is looking forwards not looking backwards. God’s promises are more solid than our circumstances. This picks up with the Israelites panicking because Pharaoh sent an army of 600 after them and they were trapped with a sea in front of them. Stand still when fear arises, the enemy seems stronger, and when you cannot see the path. Moving forward is the posture of obedience, the Israelites moved forward after they stood still.

    • This sermon goes over parashat Yitro, which covers Exodus chapters 18:1-20:23. The Israelites traveled across the Red Sea and made their way to Mount Sinai where Moses climbed up to receive God’s orders and he relayed them back to the Israelites. God told Moses to tell them if they follow his orders God will make them his people. One topic is Tzim Tzum, which is that God is not limited to time or space. God is beyond our idea of time and space, which is why without God nothing would exist, but also God threatens the very existence of anything apart from him. Holiness is to humanity what Tzim Tuzm is to God.

    • This sermon goes over the parashapt Yitro, which covers the story of Jethro visiting the Israelite camp, and the receiving of the ten commandments. This sermon focuses on the ten commandments and the language surrounding them. Many scholars believe that the ten commandments are a Suzerain treaty. The nation of Israel was forbidden from forming relationships with other foreign deities. As he knew that would turn their minds away from him.  Besides it being a Suzerain treaty, there was a different relationship there, it was more familial than legal. God wanted to enter into a convent with Israel; it is a contractual relationship between the two. In this case it resembled marriage, as God reminded them how he brought the people out of Egypt.

    • This sermon is titled “Caring for Others” it covers Exodus chapters 18:1-20:23. This story begins with Moses and his father-in-law Jethro who was a Midian priest. Moses was serving as the only judge, and Jethro advised him to develop a council of judges. This leads up to the story of Moses receiving the ten commandments from God, but first a covenant must be made. So God gave them the ten commandments as part of their upholding of the covenant so that his chosen people would be set apart from that of the world.  The law of Moses is not dead, it is still alive and applicable and should not be discarded.

As the eagle builds so the Lord builds, both the Lord and the eagle find the best place to build with tender love and care. God builds his community and works on his children. As the eagle breaks so does the Lord, they make it so that their children can go out and survive and thrive without their help. God anoints us and equips us for the job that he calls us to do.

20260207 Parashat Yitro - Listening to the Voice of God Tree of Life Houston Shabbat Service

    • This sermon is titled “Listening to the voice of God” it covers Exodus chapters 18:1-20:23. Jethro, Moses’s father in law, most likely visited him after Moses received the ten commandments. Mount Saini is in what is Saudi Arabia today, God and Moses spoke to each other on this mountain. Moses made a convert with God on behalf of the people and it was the creation of the ten commandments. God asked them to remain clean and prepare for him to come down from the mountain at the sound of the shoftar. Another story is that of the prophet Elijiah and his experience with listening to the voice of God, he fled to the Mountain of Horeb, Mount Saini. God spoke to him and asked him why he was there, Elijah responded that people had turned against God and he was being chased down. God told him to step out and listen for his voice, and he heard it from the fire. God worked through some ordinary men to do great works for his people.

Adonai prepares the way for us, and Adonai has a long term vision for our spiritual growth. This sermon continues the story of the Israelites as they are prepared to move into the land that God had promised them. However, this takes much longer than they had hoped because they were not prepared to overthrow the Canaanites. God prepared the way for his people by sending hornets to help pull the enemy away so that his people could move through there more safely. God’s definition of success is different from our definition of success.

    • This sermon is titled “Under Law or Under Grace” it covers Exodus chapters 21-24:18. This sermon starts with discussing whether the covenant was both a Suzerian contract, but also a marriage contract between God and his people. The Torah is an ancient legal code, and while some in this day and age believe it’s obsolete it is quite the opposite. The Torah upheld higher standards and respect for women who were captured in war, and there were higher standards for how they were to treat their slaves too. God put men and women on a more even playing field than any other nation at the time. There was a difference after Chirst died, because people were no longer required to be Jews to be saved. Grace is God’s free gift of salvation through his son, law is his loving instruction for how his people should live.

    • This sermon is titled  “Slave of the Messiah” it covers Exodus chapters 21-24. Israel chose Torah before they knew what the contents were, and after they were told what it was they decided to obey and do what was asked.  Slaves were treated differently in Israel, they were allowed to work until  debts were paid, and they could also decide to remain a slave if they were treated in a manner in which was appropriate. The Torah had specific instructions to make sure slaves were treated with dignity. To be a slave of the Messiah is to have a great love for your master, it is willingly done rather than forced. Being a slave of the Messiah is not a difficult task when you consider all that he has done for us. Our service should be inspired by the love for our master.

This angel would guide them on their path, guard them and guarantee their destination. He will guide us on our daily path, God has an advance party even before that step foot on the path. The Angel of Adonai encamps around those who fear him, and delivers them. If we live by the Ruach let us also walk by the Ruach.

20260214 Parashat Mishpatim - When the Crowd is Wrong Tree of Life Houston Shabbat Service

    • This sermon is titled “When in the Wrong Crowd” it covers Exodus chapters 12:1-24:28. The book of the covenant doesn’t bend to the majority opinion rather, the people bend to the covenant. This is needed because people are easily swayed if they see that their point of view is the common consensus. Aaron was a peaceful person, but this peace often caused him to be easily swayed for the sake of peace rather than upholding the law. You cannot follow the worldly desires and God at the same time. Exodus 23:2 is not just a commandment it is a calling, it is a calling to courage, to integrity, and it’s a calling to the covenant of faithfulness.

    • This sermon is titled “You Shall Command” it covers Exodus chapters 25:1-27:19. Three keys to a humble heart: obedient tithing, willing offering, and generous living. Tithing is important but it must be willing to be given up, it is not meant to be flashy but is done in obedience to God. The act of giving to God is to recognize that he is above us and that we are lifting our offerings up to him. The building of the tabernacle gave the people a place to worship, but more importantly it gave God a place to dwell with his people.

    • This sermon is titled “Uninterrupted Service” it covers Exodus chapters 27:20-30:10. That part of the Torah looks into the priesthood, and the building of the tabernacle. The priests were required to wear special garments since they would be entering the holy space. They were required to bring the cleanest olive oil into the tabernacle, it was the fuel for the candlestand inside. There were daily offerings and there were annuals, the Menorah was one that needed regular care. We are called to be constant in our worship to the Lord.

    • This sermon is titled “The Cost of Commitment” it covers Exodus chapters 25-27:19. The building of the tabernacle happens after the golden calf incident. So God asked Moses to ask the Israelites for donations to build the tabernacle, and they gave freely without reservation. When they fled from Egypt God had ordered them to plunder the Egyptians, and the Egyptians willingly gave it to them. Is there a cost of commitment? There is a story of David where there was a cost of commitment to God, when there was someone that was after him. There were three things he could choose from, he chose three days of pestilence which killed roughly 70,000 men. David stopped the pestilence early, God called him to set up an altar at Araunah’s threshing floor, God accepted the burnt offerings and held off the pestilence. The discipleship to which Yeshua calls us means a life of surrender to God’s will and sacrifice to his cause.

    • This sermon is titled “A Place to Dwell” it covers Exodus chapters 25-27:19. God gave them order to build a moveable structure that they would build as a place of worship, and a place of dwelling for God. This structure had to be just exact to replicate the divine tabernacle up in heaven. The tabernacle was created to be a copy and a shadow of heavenly things. God had a special relationship with people, however because of the fall of man a schism between the two was formed. Despite this God still wanted to walk and talk with his prized creation. God asked them to contribute to the building of his dwelling place so they would understand the cost that it took, they willingly gave to the point where Moses had to tell them to stop.

20260221 Parashat Terumah What We Build vs. What We Give Tree of Life Houston Shabbat Service

    • This sermon is titled “What We Build vs What We Give” it covers Exodus chapters 25:1-27:19. God gave Moses plans to construct a building in which they may worship and where he would dwell. God values behind the offer more than the magnitude of what we build. The first building was the tabernacle, and later on during Solomon rule he built a temple for God to dwell in. The difference between the building of the tabernacle and the temple is that people were drafted to build the temple, while the tabernacle was willingly built. God’s presence depends not on the extravaganza of the student but the obedience of the people.

    • This sermon is titled “Trust and Obey” it covers Exodus chapters 27:20-30:10. What does it look like to trust and obey the Lord? God gave King Saul the order to destroy the Amalekites, they were descendants of Esau, and they wanted to destroy the nation of Israel. God calls us to trust him, however oftentimes it is hard for us to do because we live in a fallen world where trust is easily broken. However, God has not given us a reason not to trust him; he is constant. Saul did not end up utterly destroying the Amalekites, he kept the nice stuff and only destroyed the worn out items. Saul became disobedient to God’s words, and Samuel was appalled that the rumors he had heard were true. You can deceive others, you can deceive yourself, but you can never deceive God.

This torah potion continues to narrate the institution for the priesthood, it mainly focuses on the garments that the presets are required to wear. The word that is looked into deeper is reminder, God gave Arron reminders that were embedded into his priestly garments. He calls us to remember how he brought us out of Egypt, and the provision he provided in the desert. We are called to have his word in our hearts and on our minds.Remember what is good and true about a person. The festivals that are celebrated cause us to remember the goodness of God.

This sermon starts by talking about the separation with taking a census, the separation between of the half shekel, and the separation of the washed and unwashed. The Levites were required to live by a separate standard because they were the tribe that were called to be priests. They were called to use specific olive oil, and there were very certain instructions to create the incense and anointing oil, and it was to be used only in the temple. Another well known separation is the separation of the Sabbath, it is to be a day of rest.

    • This sermon is titled “The God of Second Chances” it covers Exodus chapters 30:11-34:33. This sermon starts by discussing the story of the golden calf and the devastating consequences that followed. God gave Israel a second chance, he asked Moses to take two stone tablets and write down ten commandments that they were to follow. The Lord reinstated his covenant to his people and that was forged through those two stone tablets. The next story that shows that God gives second chances is the story of Jonah, but more importantly the city of Nineveh. Jonah did not want to go and preach there because it was dangerous, but also he did not want them to repent and turn to God. So he fled and was swallowed up by a whale where he prayed to him, and repented from his actions, which resulted in God asking the fish to throw him up on land. He went to preach in Nineveh and the people repented and turned to God.

    • This sermon is titled “Planting a Seed” it covers Exodus chapters 35:1-38:20. This portion of the Torah describes how the assembly of Israel gathered to construct the Tabernacle. One part of it came from the Egyptians since they were trying to get rid of the Israelites, and then it was constructed with Acacia trees. In our spiritual lives weeds are very detrimental one to the first ones is the worries of the world. The second weed is the weed of riches. The third weed is unrighteous desire for other things. To prepare the seed properly you must add the correct nutrients, one of them being the word of God. You also have to have the right environment and resources for it. We need to be wise and sensitive when presenting the gospel to lost folks around us.

    • This sermon is titled “The Body and Me” it covers Exodus chapters 38:21-40:38. We are called to be people of integrity. Moses is a strong example for this, as he received the money for building the tabernacle and properly allocated it where it needed to go. As he knew his ability to delegate it would reflect back on God. Integrity is not how we conduct ourselves with the big things, but the little things too. Another place we are called to exercise integrity is the work place. We also must use good discretion and integrity with our friendships.

    • This sermon is titled “The Glory of the Lord” it covers Exodus chapters 38:21-40:38. The cloud of Adoni covered the tabernacle and guided them on whether it was time to move and it guided them towards where they needed to move. This sermon talks about the word glory, and the Hebrew word stems from a root word that means weight, it can mean glory, honor, respect, distinction, or importance. Once we encounter the majesty of God we can’t help but respond with reverential worship. The glory of God filled the tabernacle, it appeared as a thick fog that was impenetrable. Nowadays his presence is something that we can feel spiritual but we are unable to see a physical manifestation of it.

    • This sermon covers the parashat Vayikra, it means “he called”. It starts with the book of leviticus and it discusses the different types of offerings that they had to perform. There was a sacrificial system that consisted of burnt offering, everyday sacrifice, meal offering, sin offering, and guilt offering. All of the sacrifices have in common is the offering had to be without blemish. Servanthood at times is a great sacrifice. Sometimes we do it because it’s willing, and sometimes we do it to get ahead. Many people find it hard to be servant hearted towards those we do not like. It is not easy to be the sacrifice as that requires us to be holy, and we are unable to be so.

    • This sermon is titled “Drawing Near” it covers Leviticus chapters 1-5. This passage discusses many of the offerings that were to be offered and the condition they must be in. A sacrifice implies giving up something that the person holds dear, and an offering is more of a payment. Karav and Korban are words that mean draw near, which allows us to draw near to God. The sacrifice is something that we can bring near to God. Another word that is key is tamim, which means without blemish, the sacrifices and offerings had to be without blemish. More than simply taking out punishment, Yeshua draws us near into the presence of His Father.

20250405 Parashat Vayikra Tree of Life Houston Shabbat Service

    • This sermon is titled “Drawing Near” it covers Leviticus chapters 1-6:7. Self sacrifice is not what is meant by biblical sacrifice. Biblical sacrifice is the act of freely giving something that we hold dear, or value, and give it to God. God wants us to draw closer to him, and the act of biblical sacrifice allows us to do so. Repentance is important for us to draw closer to God, we do not appear the same before the Lord. There are many offerings that are in the book of Leviticus which allow us to be closer to God, and all of them require an unblemished offering. Anything that we do outside of God’s will has no value outside of eternity.

20260321 Parashat Vayikra - Created For Praise Tree of Life Houston Shabbat Service

    • This sermon is titled “Created for Praise” it covers Leviticus chapters 1:1-5:26. This section of scripture covers the sacrificial service, priestly duties, ritual purity, biblical diet, moedim, law of holiness and redemption, vows and tithies. The question “Why am I here” is asked, it refers more to the question “Why was I born in this specific time?” The sacrificial system was not about forgiveness of sin so much as it was an invitation to draw close to him. Israel was created for praise. Israel' s calling is not to simply praise God but to be a living argument for the reality of the one true God.

    • This sermon is titled “Keeping the Fire Burning” it covers Leviticus chapters 6-8. This portion of the Torah discusses the burnt offerings and how they must be handled and tended to. The questions that are going to be looked at are: what is this holy fire, whose responsibility is this holy fire, and how do we maintain this holy fire? Fire was often used by God to speak to and guide his people in the wilderness and in the tabernacle. It was the responsibility of the priest to keep this fire burning, and it is now our responsibility to keep it burning. To keep the fire burning we must pray to him, study his word and work.

It also goes into great detail about what types of offerings there were to be, what was to be offered, who was to offer it and how it was offered. The position to which Arron and his sons were appointed to was divine direction. Aaron and his sons were washed from head to toe. After the bathing they were adored with special tunics that were ordained by God. Being a follower of the Messiah should not cause us to be puffed up, God opposes the proud but gives grae to the humble.

    • This sermon is titled “Pray, Preparation, and Purpose” it covers Exodus chapters 12:1-11. It goes into what a biblically principled person looks like, how they  pray, prepare, and they know their purpose. This service ties into Passover, the first thing that they had to do is prepare to leave, they were given specific instructions on what to do with a lamb. God helped the Israelites collect jewels, silks, and many other fine things by opening the Egyptians hearts. There is a lot of preparation that goes into Passover, but that is not the only thing we should prepare. The next one is prayerful patience, the Israelites had to wait while the meal was prepared, and they had to wait till given the go ahead to leave Egypt. They left to fulfill the purpose that God had planned for them.

20260328 Parashat Tzav - Take Up The Ashes- Holiness In Ordinary Tasks Tree of Life Houston Service

    • This sermon is titled “Take up the Ashes-Holiness in Ordinary Tasks” it covers Leviticus chapters 6:1-8:36. Holiness is not only found in the spectacular but is also found in the faithful. The ashes are the remains of worship, treat the remnants of worship with dignity. There are two sets of garments-a theology of boundaries, holiness is not chaos, it is ordered devotion. Ash removal is daily, holiness requires maintenance. What smothers the flame, unconfessed sin, old habits, past hurts, yesterday's victories, and yesterday's failures. Revival is not only adding fuel it is about clearing away what no longer belongs. Ashes are removed in the morning-first things first, Yesusha began his day by clearing space for God’s will. Holiness in the mundane, God sees the hidden work.

    • This sermon is over the parashat Shemini. Three things about worshiping God, first being worship, must be biblical. The Israelites were given very specific instructions on how to worship him. We are told to sing, to study, to pray, and tithe as a form of worship, and we are called to have continuous worship. Worship must be reverent. He wants to be treated as holy so therefore our worship must reflect that. Worship must be God focused, it should not stray to focus on another person.

20230415 Parashat Shemini Tree of Life Houston Shabbat Service

    • This sermon goes over the parashat Shemini. But it also delves into the story of the passover, as it had just started around the time of this sermon. The beginning of the passage opens up with the death of Arron’s two sons. It then goes into the instructions that the priest and the people had to follow. One very important one is do not mess with the fire of God. You must not bring the wrong fire, and one must not care for the fire incorrectly. The sons Nadav and Avi performed three things wrong when it came to worship, the first being they had the wrong timing. The next is wrong authority, we need to do things God’s way.

20240406 Parashat Shemini Tree of Life Houston Shabbat Service

    • This sermon is titled “God is not Common” it covers Leviticus chapters 9-11. One of the main points is that God is so much greater than any other thing. It goes on to explain that Arraon and his descendants were consecrated by God to be set apart by serving as priests. This came with guidelines on how to act in order to remain holy. We have been called out from the common to join God in his presence. Aaron’s son’s however decided to go against God’s requests and burnt the wrong incense and offered a strange fire. Family breeds contempt, that is what happened they took God’s presence for granted. We are to treat him with holiness and reverence, we are called to draw near to God but that also requires a change in how we live our lives.

    • This sermon is titled “God’s Way” ; it covers Leviticus chapters 9:1-11:47. This portion of the Torah talks about the events of the eighth day of the tabernacle dedication. This sermon focuses on the many things that occur on the eighth day in the bible. This includes the story of Arron’s sons and their mistake that they made on the eighth day. Arron’s sons Nadab and Abihu put strange fire on the altar rather than what God had ordered them to put. This results in God rejecting them from the priesthood. He goes on to construct the dietary laws as a way to bring them closer to God. God’s way is not our own. Follow the leader Yeashua is our intercessor.

20260411 Parashat Sh'mini "No Strange Fire" Tree Of Life Houston Messianic Congregation Service

    • This sermon is titled “No Strange Fire” ; it covers Leviticus chapters 9:1-11:47. There are a few important points that are to be made: the first is: worship must be biblical. One way to do that is through the public reading of scripture, and singing and making music in your heart to the Lord. The priests were called to keep the fire burning at all times, and we are too even though it looks different in this day and age. Worship must be reverent. Familiarity should never replace reverence. Worship must be God focused, he is more important than our human relationships.

The sermons started by discussing a few Jewish Holidays that are nearing and what some of their traditions are. This sermon also covers the topic of catastrophe, and how we are to react when they occur. It talks about King David and how he dealt with his own struggles, one of them being he prayed to God. Another life that is looked into is Job’s and the struggles that he dealt with despite being favored by God. God calls us to have patience and trust in his timing.

Being clean or unclean has nothing to do with having biblical leprosy; it is ritually unfit. Physically leprosy starts small but quickly spreads, gossip is the same and we must watch how our tongues are used. No human can tame the tongue. God created everything by speaking it into existence, and we have the same power. Words carry power and we are to use it wisely, rather than using it for evil.

This sermon dives deeper into the impact that words have on a person first by looking into the story of Mr. Rogers. The power of speech is to heal or to harm. This leads into the importance of words especially since God spoke the world into existence. Speech can tear someone or as shown with Mr. Rogers' documentary can build someone up.

This sermon talks about how we are to find our identity in the Messiah, and it isn’t dependent on our own acts. It tells a story of how people were slandering someone in order to get them declared a leper. Once declared a leper they had to live on the outskirts of the camp and wait to be declared clean by the priest. We are called to bring light on our own by talking about it to someone. When we are forgiven the slate is whipped clean, but that does not mean that we avoid the earthly consequences.

It covers the tabernacle ceremony, the day of atonement, rules regarding sacrifice and sanctuary, and what is permitted in sexual relationships. • This sermon goes over the parashat Acharei Mot which translates to after the death . It goes over the story of two of Arron's son’s deaths, leprosy. It talks about the preparation of the incense and the sacrifice that is needed for yom kippor, the day of atonement. They were told to cast lots for two goats, one would be sacrificed and the other was to be released as the scapegoat. The church did not replace the Jews as his chosen people, rather he opened the door for the gentiles in addition to opening the doors for the Jews. Our sins were transferred to the Messiah who was our scapegoat, he was the goat that was sacrificed for our sins, and he was the high priest that offered the goat for our sins.

    • This sermon is titled “How to be Holy” it covers Leviticus chapters 19:1-8. God scratches us because he knows we can’t be holy by ourselves, rather we have to rely on him. We are given a road map to help us understand what we can do to remain holy. The first being you are not to steal and you are not to lie. We are called to be honest people in all aspects of our life. We are told not to curse the deaf and we’re not to put a stumbling block in front of the blind.

    • This sermon goes over the parashat Kedoshim which means holy. Each person is capable of it, and our God would not judge us if we fail. It means set aside for, if a person is set aside for worshiping God they are to be holy. What does it look like to be holy? Holiness is not defined by our outward appearance, but rather how we conduct ourselves is honoring to the Lord. We are told to emulate the actions and the character of God. Being perfect does not mean sinless, but it means being completed and working towards that sanctification. We are told not to steal, not to lie, and not to devices each other. This involves holiness and integrity in commerce. Holiness is love in action.

    • This sermon covers the parashat Emor which translates as to speak, and it covers Leviticus chapters 21-24. These chapters give instructions on who the priests were supposed to act along with the duties that are needed in order to care for the tabernacle. The sermon starts by talking about all of the holy days, the most important being shabbat which occurs every week. The second important one is Passover, or Pesach which was the event where God passed over the Jewish households and killed the firstborn of the Egyptian household. Paul states that Yeshua became our passover lamb and we are saved from an eternal spiritual death through him. Another one is Shavout, it occurs after the first shabbat and it celebrates when God gave us the torah, and it celebrates the wheat harvest.

    • This sermon is titled “One System of Justice” it covers Leviticus chapters 21-24. This sermon starts by discussing the counting of the omar. The Omar is the celebration of the master’s resurrection. The first two chapters of the parashat Emor primarily has to do with the priesthood. They were given instructions that they were to follow in order to remain ritually holy. The next thing that is disused is the eight moadim. This leads into a story about a blasphemer that was of mixed heritage and how the Jewish law struggled with how to proceed. In the end Moses decided to go forward and have him pay the appropriate fine and had him make financial restitution instead.

    • This sermon is titled “Scantified in His Name” it covers Leviticus chapters 21-24. The first two chapters talk about the laws that the priests are to follow, such as, who they can marry. This leads into looking in sanctification which means to be set apart as or declared holy. Some people will be judged stricter than others similar to priests such as teachers. Biblically we as believers are called to sanctify God’s holy name. God gave the Israelites special instructions when observing the moadim.

    • This sermon is titled “The Blaphermer” it covers Leviticus chapters 21-24. This sermon looks into the story about an Israelite women’s son that they had with an Egyptian man. The son committed blasphemy against God, and the priests were having trouble coming to a verdict about the appropriate punishments as he was only half Israelite. The usual punishment for such a crime would be stoning. In Judaism there are three exceptional sins: idolatry, sexual sin, and murder. The sanctification of the name of God is the task of living.

    • This sermon is titled “Tended Light and Fresh Bread” it covers Leviticus chapters 21-24. There are two continual items that God gives his followers the first being continental light and the second being continual bread. Pure oil and tended light, that is what was required to keep a lamp burning continually in the temple. The oil was pure and beaten, it was intentional refinement. The light was continual; it never burned out, but Yeshua is the ultimate light. The bread represented all of Israel, it was a precursor to the Messiah who fulfilled all of our needs, and it’s a calling for his followers to come and be with him. It is also a representation of how we should conduct ourselves as believers.

    • This sermon is titled “Faith and Second Chances” it covers Leviticus chapters 25-26. This delves deeper into the sabbatical laws, such as the shmeta, that the Jews were to follow in order to care for their farms. They were allowed to sow and prune their fields for six years, but on the seventh they were to let the land rest. These laws were not followed until they reached the land that God had promised them. However, they never once followed that law, and they failed to honor the year of jubilation. The Shmeta was a test of faith that God would provide everything that they needed. The second theme is second chances, he gave us ways to cleanse ourselves of our sins through his son.

The first blessing that God gave was that he will make it rain at the right time. God brought them out of slavery from Egypt so that they could walk free to walk in his ways. Disobedience is a symptom of a broken relationship, you cannot be disobedient and inherit the blessings. Both the Abrahamic covent and the Mosaic covent were made with the conditions that they were to follow God’s laws. Yeashua set us free from the slavery of sin, we don’t have to follow God out of free will but we can build a relationship with him.

It gives instructions on how to care for the tabernacle, it also tells which group takes care of which responsibility. Another topic that is touched on is a few stories about redemption, the greatest of all being that of the Messiah who was prophesied to come all the way back in Genesis. Then the topic of the Syrians and Assyrians were talked about as they ended up occupying the land that king Saul developed. The Jewish people looked at the Samaritans in disdain as they disrespected the mountain that was important to the Jews.

It talks about the provisions that God provided for them such as manna and quail, and the parting of the red sea. God welcomes back those who turn back to him. God will sometimes bring people into the wilderness to take them away from the distractions of the world to bring them back to him. When God returns his mercy people must return their duty. God does not give us what we deserve, part of God’s grace is a restored relationship with him.

Shavuot occurs seven weeks after Passover. Shavuot is a celebration of the harvest and thanking God for the harvest, so they are instructed to bring an offering proportional to their harvest. Shavuot is also a celebration of the day that the Israelites received the Torah. It was fully fulfilled after Yeshua returned to his father and his disciples were reading the Torah and a fire settled on each one of them.

    • This sermon is titled “Body Parts” it covers Numbers 1-4. The book of numbers tells the story of Israel's trek though the wilderness, their failure near the end, which lead to forty more years in the wilderness. It also accounted for the census of every male, with the expectation of the tribe of Levi, so that they could form an army. The tribe of Levi was subdivided into their clans which dictated which responsibility they were to take. The Gershon tribe was in charge of the tents coverings and screens. The Kohath was in charge of the most holy objects near the sanctuary. The Meriar was responsible for the transportation of the holy objects. We are made to drink from one Rauch, it does not matter our worldly standing because the body is not one part but many.

If a wife was accused of having an affair she would have to bring a jealous offering of water and a paper with the words of guilty or not guilty. If she was guilty the mix of the ink and the water would make her ill and beran, if she was not guilty she would be fine. The Aaronic blessing is constantly used in everyday life, as well as weddings to bless the bride and groom. The first line blesses us with sustenance and physical health, the second line blesses us with grace and redemption, the third verse blesses us with peace and wholeness and a spiritual identity. But all of that is only fulfilled through God because of his love for us.

In order to do that we’ll take a look at the last section of the Aaronic Blessing, more specifically the word shalom. The word shalom means peace, peace exists where each element is valued and is a part of a whole. The most obvious case is that of the ritual of the sota, it obliterated the name of God to restore a marriage. There was a strong emphasis on the idea that there is equal dignity for everyone in the eyes of God. The whole Torah was given to make peace in the world.

This sermon focuses on the Aaronic blessing and what one can gather from it. Mainly, there are six things that can make God smile by first blessing others. The second being God smiles when we love him supremely. The third is trust in him, the fourth is to obey him, the fifth is to praise him, and the sixth is to use your talents.

Every sin against a person is a sin against God. There are property sins, and relationship sins, property sins are easier to repair than relationship sins. Relationship sins include gossip, slander, insults, humiliation, broken trust, emotional injury and division. In order to mend them the steps are confession, reconciliation, and repair in the same domain that the harm occurred.

This sermon starts by talking about what was needed to set up the tabernacle, and the Israelites continued their journey in the wilderness. God told the Israelites that if they do not do what he told them to do they will get some severe consequences, but God is also a God of redemption and he gives second chances. Speaking in tongues is also discussed and how it was a gift from God. During that time the Ruach ha-Kodesh was also given to gentiles which was unheard of by the Jews.

This sermon goes over the parashat Beha'alotcha, which means when you ascend; it covers Numbers chapter 8-12:16. It focuses on humility and true greatness. There are two Adam's, Adam one that seeks success and Adam two lives by the logic of morality. Failure that leads to humility can lead to success. The Moses Saga, he started off by being stubborn but brave, with Moses two he was a lonely man of faith. The Israelites were ungrateful for the freedom that Moses had worked for and it caused Moses to become burdened. In act three, now it’s Moses’s own brother and sister who are disparaging him because of his kushite wife. Moses asked God why did you place me in charge of these ungrateful people. Moses wanted to gain more people to aid him in leading the Israelite people. One thing that a truly humble person can do is listen to an argument and possibly consider that they were wrong.

    • This sermon is titled "Irritating God” it covers Numbers chapters 8-12:16. This goes over a time in Moses’s life where he was under immense pressure to guide the people of Israel in the wilderness. This explores three characteristics that annoyed God, the people disrespected God and embraced an attitude of entitlement. Moses got sick of all of the complaining to the point where he wanted to die. The second one is God’s dual solution to Moses’s burn out was delegation and quail. He delegated work to some of the elders and God gave them some of the blessing of the Ruach from Moses onto them. Both solutions carried some problems with them such as authority and death. Some of the people suffered a death due to quail poisoning. Our attitude towards God has many repercussions, we are not entitled to his blessings as they are a matter of grace.

    • This sermon is titled “Not by Might. Nor by Power, But by My Spirit” it covers Numbers chapters 8-12:16. God’s pillar of clouds served as a traffic light, a barrier of protection, and a way for him to talk to his people. We are also made aware of the spirit of God from the story of Zechariah.  God had given Zechariah eight dreams to lift the spirits of the exiled Jews, however only twenty percent left to return to their land, as God had blessed his people even in exile. The efforts of the people alone were not enough so God sent an Angel to help whip out the things that were hindering them from making progress. The best thing to remove mountains from one’s life is to pray and bring it back to God. You cannot love your fellow man if you do not love God.

    • This sermon is titled "Different Spirit” it covers Numbers chapters 13-15:41. It starts with the people wanting to spy on the land of Cannan, rather than going in to conquer it right away. This decision was made by the people rather than God. During the time they were spying, the people falsified the reports to make it sound harder to conquer than it was, as they did not have faith that God would make way. This leads into the story of Caleb and his faith in God and leading the Israelites into the promised land. There are five levels to the spirit of man, the Nefesh, the Ruach, Neshama, the Chaya, and the Yechida. There were three things that set Caleb apart, first is that he was bold, they were realists, and he followed the Lord wholeheartedly.

    • This sermon is titled “Who Do You Believe” it covers Numbers chapters 13-15. This starts the story of the Jews and their surveying of the Cannan and their reports back that caused much hesitation because of a lack of faith. This ties into a discussion about depression and the idea of learned helplessness and self fulfilling prophecy. Through cognitive behavioral therapy they are able to realize that they can change their mindset, they slowly are able to improve. It was determined that no one twenty and above would enter the promised land, due to their lack of faith. There were six forms of distorted thinking that affected them, they were fearful, they had all or nothing thinking, they catastrophised their situation, mind reading, inability to disconfirm, emotional reasoning, and blame.

This occurred because God had ordered them to enter and take over the land of Cannan. Caleb’s confidence was in God and nothing else, he followed God throughout his challenges. They were promised a mountain and Caleb was not about to give it up. Nothing was going to stop Caleb from doing what God wanted them to do, he stood up to those who stopped out of fear.

When surveying the land they went out in two by two configurations, they were asked to bring back some fruit of the land. Now a good handful of these spies came back and reported they were not capable of taking over the land, but Caleb and Joshua believed that they could. The people became scared after hearing the falsified reports and they wanted to go back to Egypt. It was because of this unbelief that led to many jews from being barred from entry, from the census they determined that only those under twenty at the time would enter. We need to be people of faith, guard our speech, repent of unbelief, and be humble intercessors.

    • This sermon is titled “Being a Man or Woman of God” it covers Numbers chapters 13-15. Being a man or woman of God does not happen by accident. God had twelve people from the tribes and they went out and spied on the land for forty days to get an idea of what they were up against. However they came back with falsified reports of all of them being giants and that they would have no chance against them. A man or woman of God has a resource others ignore. A man and woman of God act differently than how other people act. They follow the Lord completely, cheerfully, consistently, and faithfully. Man and woman of God will enjoy rewards that others will miss such as, their lives will be saved, they will be honored, they will be remembered, and they will leave an inheritance for their children.

    • This sermon is titled “Faith that Sees Clearly” it covers Numbers chapters 13-15. Unbelief began with a misinterpretation of reality. For example the spires reported that the land was flowing with milk and honey, but it is filled with giants, which was not a false report, but rather their interpretation was false. Facts are not the enemy of faith, faithlessness is the enemy of faith. Faith does not deny reality, faith interprets reality through promise. Faith doesn’t change the facts, rather it changes the framework. Faith speaks from identity not from security.

After refusing to go through with God’s plan by not entering the land, it was decided that only a new generation would enter. God is not just looking for nice people, he is looking for obedient people. God does not make mistakes, be content where he puts you. The lack of a fear of God can cause people to see things in a very disordered manner.

Korach aided in a coup attempt to dismantle Moses and Arron’s authority, on the basis of some tribes having a greater role than others. He wanted the role of high priest for himself, since he was first cousins with both of them. An argument not for the sake of heaven is one for power.

He became respectful that while everyone was set apart as God’s people, he did not get an elevated role, despite being Moses and Arron’s first cousin. He and some members of the rebellion went down into Sheol and left, and others decided to use the wrong incense and they were gone. Showing strife, questioning God’s orders, and exulting one’s self is not how God wants us to behave. Bad company corrupts good morals.

    • This sermon is titled “For the Sake of Heaven” it covers Numbers chapters 16-18. There were two rebellious groups, one that was focused on leading Israel because they came from the oldest son’s tribe. The second one is the rebellion led by Korach, who was focused on getting into a position of power and status as he was a leader of the Levites and wanted a position like Arrons, who was the high priest. The aim of the process is the search for truth and justice in accord with the will and word of God. The dialogue does not preclude or endanger the possibility of “loving one another” at its conclusion or thereafter. The result should be the establishing of a deeper relationship with God and with one another in friendship and shalom. We have the ability to love or hate.

The rod that lives: Yeashua the resurrected priest. The budding staff shows us three pictures: it’s a picture of resurrection, it’s a picture of vindication, and a picture of heavenly priesthood. Only God can make dead wood blossom and only God can raise the Messiah from the grave. The Manna, rod and tablets: Yeshua the prophet, priest, and king. Messiah is not one dimensional, he is the fullness of God’s leadership for his people. The rod that blossomed will become the scepter that rules.

    • This sermon goes over the parashat Chukat, which means statue, it covers Number chapters 19-22. It discusses the mysteries laws of the red heifer ceremony for purification for contact with human death. With this sermon occurring on father day, the sermon focuses on the story of Aarron and his two sons. Aaron was a peace maker and people often went to him for help with making peace in their marriages. Being a peace maker is a characteristic of followers of Yeashua, but also a characteristic of a good father. The next thing that is important for both to have is the beatitudes. The father is also the person who administers discipline. People who are committed daily will seek to be morally clean. A good father has a good heart. He is true to his word and to his wife. A good father is merciful, he’s pure of heart and mind, and he’s a peaceful man, and tries to be a strong reflection of our heavenly father.

    • This sermon is tired “Paradox of Purity" it covers Numbers chapters 19-22. Because of their unbelief the Israelites that were allowed to enter the promised land were greatly diminished. After the events of the golden calf Moses went up and prayed three times, for three different requests. The three things are that the divine presence should rest upon those who wrestle with God. The divine presence should not rest upon those who recognize God. God should “Show me Your Ways” and answer the question “WHY GOD”. The purification paradox hints towards the Messiah who became unclean to cleanse us to save others from death. Then it leads into the discussion around the red heifer, red symbolizes the red blood that was needed over Passover.

It started out in the wilderness with the Israelites once again being discontent about their situation, so God sent serpents which bite quite a few of them. So God ordered Moses to put a snake on a pole and whoever looks at it will be healed. Their journey to the promised land was all uphill, and it directed them away from the promised land because of it. When the census was taken for determining who was to enter and not enter the promised land, the women were most likely not counted in those numbers. It’s these times in the wilderness we must learn to be content.

This sermon starts by looking into the Hebrew word “chok” which literally means to engrave, but its spiritual meaning is a commandment whose rationale is not completely understood. God provides the image of justice, the serpent, as a sign of mercy. Those who heed the sign will live. The hook requires a response of obedience. The reason behind God using an image of death, as an image of life, can be traced back to the serpent in the garden. The copper serpent represents the superficial source of the suffering but the underlying source is sin, unbelief and slander against God. Looking towards it each Israelite is reminded of it.

    • This sermon goes over the parashat Balak which covers Number chapters 23-25:9. It tells the story of a man named Balam who was a renowned prophet. Balam was willing to recognize that God was in fact a god, but he was not ready to accept him as his. However after the Israelites defeated a literal giant King, he chose to believe and follow him. This resulted in the king Balak calling Balam to bless him. However Balam’s old money hungry ways were not quelled just yet, as he was still learning to be obedient, but he did end up saying no in the end. Never settle for the good things when you could have great things. Never settle for good of plan b when you could have God’s best plan A for your life.

Balak had commissioned Balam to come before him so that he could put a curse onto the nation of Israel, however to his surprise Balam refused. When Balack was refused he put more pressure onto Balam to adhere to his request.  However Balam had become a believer so he refused to curse the chosen people of his God. We should not compromise the word of God for a get rich quick scheme it should be to glorify him.

    • This sermon is titled “Following God’s Will” it covers Numbers chapters 23-25:9. This tells the story of Balam and how a conversation with a donkey caused him to bless Israel instead of cursing it. When Balam started heading to meet Balak the donkey he and with him fled at the sight of an angel, so Balam kept beating the donkey to get it back on track. But the Angel appeared in front of the donkey two more times, so the donkey asked him “why do you keep beating me”. After some time the angel appeared in front of Balam, and he repented and went home. The mixture of motives between obedience and profit eventually ended with Balam’s death.

    • This sermon is titled "Covenant of Shalom” it covers Numbers chapters 25:10-30:1. This parashat continues the story of Balam and Balak from the previous week. It talks about how some women from the nations of Moab and Midian corrupted the Israelite men, so a plague fell upon them and 24,000 men died. There was a one way covenant cut for Pinchas, a covenant of shalom. As peaceful as Pinchas was, he was zealous about protecting the reputation of Adoni. This resulted in him taking a spear and killing a Midianite woman and a prince of Israel. After that incident God created the covenant of Shalom with him. Shalom is translated in Exodus 21:22 as make it good, or surely shall pay.

    • This sermon is titled “Life is Precious” it covers Numbers chapters 25:10-30:1. This story follows on the heels of the previous torah portion and tells the story of Pinchas. Balam had recommended that Balak send his women into the Israelite camp to tempt them to worship Bhal, this resulted in Pinchas using a spear to kill a couple. God knows everything about us, even before we entered the world he knew us. God does appoint a few certain people for tasks that he called them to do, but for those who aren’t he still knows us and what we will end up doing. God knows what we’re going through in life, he knows what’s best for us even before we do. Before you were born God set you apart.

    • This sermon is titled “Standing in the Gap Pinchas and Patriots” it covers Numbers chapter 25:10-30:1. This sermon in particular is unique in that it focuses on the founding of the United States of America, as it is the 250th celebration. The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing. Israel started to unravel as they started to allow  female Bhall worshipers into their camp, which caused anger from Pinchas and he killed a couple. In 1776 the colonists faced a similar issue, they were seen as nothing more than money machines to those in Britain. Israel faced spiritual collapse, and colonial America faced political and civilizational collapse.

    • This sermon is titled “The Courage to Ask” it covers Numbers chapters 25:10-30:1. In this torah portion the Lord makes a covenant of peace with pinchas and his line. This also looks into the story of a few women who asked Moses about something, asking him was against the standard of the law at the time. The wise person is another important point of discussion, as it pertains to how Moses and the women acted. In the end it changed how the law worked for women. Be aware, be strong and ask for your victory. We need to be like God, we need to walk in his ways. When life gets tough what spills out, what’s in your cup?
